The Mera Bill Mera Adhikaar scheme, initiated by the central government on September 1st, aims to promote the practice of requesting bills for all purchases, fostering a cultural and behavioral shift among consumers to see it as their inherent right and entitlement.

This scheme has been launched as a pilot project in the states of Assam, Gujarat, and Haryana, along with the Union Territories of Puducherry, Daman and Diu, and Dadra Nagar Haveli.

According to a press release by PIB, the Mera Bill Mera Adhikaar scheme went live at midnight on September 1, 2023, and has already gained momentum with over 1.51 lakh downloads of the app and active consumer participation in the pilot program.

Benefits for Consumers:

Under this scheme, consumers have the opportunity to win enticing rewards, with prizes reaching up to one crore rupees. To qualify for these rewards, customers must upload their bills to the Mera Bill Mera Adhikaar app or the merabill.gst.gov.in web portal.

Participation Guidelines:

Visit the official website of Mera Bill Mera Adhikaar at https://web.merabill.gst.gov.in/login, or use the mobile app.
Enter your 10-digit registered mobile number.
Provide your basic information, including name, mobile number, state, and accept the terms and conditions.
Upload your GST bill with the necessary details such as GSTIN of the seller, invoice number, amount paid, and tax amount.
Once the upload is complete, click on the submit button.

It’s important to note that a person can upload a maximum of 25 invoices per month to be eligible for the lucky draw. Each month, the government will randomly select 800 individuals to receive Rs 10,000 as an incentive. Additionally, two lucky winners will receive one crore rupees in the Bumper Draw. This experimental program will be in effect for one year.

At the moment, Mera Bill Mera Adhikaar is available on both iOS and Android platforms. Any invoices issued to consumers by suppliers registered under the Goods and Services Tax (GST) will qualify for participation in the Mera Bill Mera Adhikar initiative.
